Southwold Lighthouse (click to view this picture full frame)

A view of Southwold lighthouse, taken in April 1998, in variable lighting conditions. As the lighthouse is still in service, it's one of the more noticable landmarks in Southwold (especially at night!).

The lighthouse is automated these days, but in days gone by the keepers must have appreciated being able to walk to work instead of having to take a long and difficult journey by boat.

Just in front of the lighthouse is the Sole Bay Inn, one of several public houses in Southwold in which you may enjoy a cool pint of Adnams on a hot summer's day. (Adnams is Southwold's own beer, which is brewed immediately behind the spot from which I took this photograph.)
